There are around 180 professions for which foreign applicants need to prove their qualifications. The diploma is verified on the website of NOCUT (Educational Quality Assurance Agency). Most companies require proficiency in Norwegian, while international organisations require only English. A qualified job enables you to obtain the right to reside permanently and move your family into the country after 3 years.

What does it take to get a job as a programmer in Norway

The employer must prove to the local authorities that there are no Norwegian applicants for the vacancy before hiring a non-resident. Information about the open position is submitted to the employment service and published in the media. After the employment contract is concluded the employee receives a work permit and a work visa (and a residence permit as well). The following must be submitted to the Norwegian embassy:
