What's the situation in IT in Sweden?

A lot of Swedish companies are looking for front-end and back-end programmers and testers today. And knowledge of the national language is not required, English is enough. It certainly pays to learn Swedish afterwards. Jobs as programmers in Sweden attract specialists from Ukraine as they do not need a visa to enter the country. They can apply for citizenship in Sweden after 5 years of residency.

We must, however, obtain a work permit which is valid for 2 years and must be renewed after that.

A number of large corporations are operating in the northern state every year, opening new companies in need of IT specialists. Google, Facebook, Amazon are opening data centres and offices here. Most of the time they search for employees with 2–5 years of experience and seldom – beginners.

So far as programmers are concerned, Sweden – not «atish» country, local young people are not too eager to work in this field, so foreign specialists, including Ukrainian ones, are in high demand here.
